Hugh peacefully passed away on April 9, 2026.
Hugh was born April 26, 1933, in Pasadena, California to his parents Hugh and
Grace Devonport. Hugh attended elementary schools in Pasadena, graduating from Pasadena High School in 1950. After graduation Hugh enlisted in the US Navy and attended recruit training in San Diego, California. After Boot Camp he attended aircraft maintenance school in Jacksonville, Florida and Memphis, Tennessee.
Upon successful completion of his airman training, he was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany and flew combat missions off the coast of Korea. Hugh's tour of duty on this ship took him to many interesting places including but not limited to Hong Kong, Hawaii, and Japan. Hugh completed his enlistment and received an honorable discharge in 1954.
Upon discharge Hugh returned to Pasadena and started his College education at Pasadena City College. While going to school he went to work for a small aerospace company that eventually led to him working as a design engineer working on aerospace projects for NASA JPL.
Along the way Hugh met the love of his life and married Evyonne Troy of Los Angeles, California on July 12,1959. They started married life in Altadena, California. The couple were Blessed with two sons Eric and Richard.
Hugh completed his undergraduate studies in 1972 at California State University in Los Angeles, California. Upon graduation Hugh was hired by Xerox Corporation and relocated to Dallas, Texas to assist in the establishment of a new division to design and manufacture office products, word processors, printers, fax machines and other products. Hugh held many management positions with Xerox. Hugh retired from Xerox in 1987. After retirement Hugh worked as a consultant for another five years before deciding to retire full time.
Beyond Hugh's education and work history, Hugh had many interest and hobbies. First and foremost, he was an excellent cook and baker.
Standing out were Hugh's mouthwatering dinner rolls.
Hugh was an incredible, meticulous, detailed and precise watercolor artist.
Many days were spent on the golf course but, it wasn't just about the game. He cherished the camaraderie with his buddies a bond that remained strong even after he hung up his clubs. Evyonne eventually joined him on the golf course with a friendly game of competition.
Tennis was also something Hugh enjoyed and eventually Evyonne joined him on the courts as well.
Proving that they shared so much in life together.
Hugh loved the thrill of deep-sea fishing reeling in the hard fighting yellow tail, albacore and sea bass off the shore of Ensenada Mexico.
Hugh cherished time with his friends whether they were dining out, playing games or sharing a delicious home cooked meal.
Known to his grandchildren as "Papa" Hugh loved them with all of his heart. They adored him just as much often admiring his sense of style and sharp outfits.
His Great-grandchildren were his pride and joy they brought more joy and laughter than his heart could hold.
To his sons he left a lasting legacy passing on his strong work ethic, artistic talent and independence while, also teaching Eric valuable lessons in fatherhood. Richard passed on his technology expertise to his dad. Beyond that he shared his passion for cooking with them both.
Last and certainly not least
Evyonne and Hugh shared a beautiful life of 66 years.
They shared everything together.
Oh the Joy, Oh the Love, Oh the Laughter Theirs is a love story for the ages.

Hugh was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Evyonne and his sons Eric (wife Jacque) and Richard. Three grandchildren Mitchell (wife Glenna) Malorie (husband Justin) and Shelby (husband JJ)
And six Great grandchildren Annabelle, Justin, Theodore, Dallas, Isabelle and Grace.
