Hugh McWhorter's Obituary
Hugh was born August 11, 1913 on a farm in Lockesburg, Arkansas, one of seven children, and died to be with the Lord on September 7, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Gladys McWhorter, father William McWhorter, mother Naomi Cannon McWhorter, two brothers and four sisters. He is survived by one daughter, Camille McWhorter, of Dallas and a number of nieces and nephews. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and following his discharge, worked for Chrysler Corporation until his retirement. He then became active in the Farmers Branch Senior Center, serving 10 years on their advisory board, including 2 terms as president, and volunteering wherever needed. He had been a Master Mason since 1941. He loved his family, his church and his countless friends who will always remember his funny jokes and wonderful prayers. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX. Interment will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Restland Memorial Park followed by a memorial service at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Farmers Branch at 12:00 noon. Memorials may be directed to Faith United Presbyterian Church, 12717 Marsh Lane, Farmers Branch, TX 75234. The family would like to thank Avalon Memory Care and Angel Hands Hospice for all the wonderful care they provided.
