Hugh Theron Tomlinson's Obituary
Hugh Theron Tomlinson, 89, a resident of Richardson, Texas, for 54 years, passed away on August 14, 2014. Services were held August 19, 2014, at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. Private interment was at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Eagle Tomlinson and Zelma Inez Robinson Tomlinson, and his sister, Ouida Inez Tomlinson Webb, and her husband, James Cecil Webb. He is survived by Mary Joyce House Tomlinson, his wife of 65 years; three daughters, Kay Tomlinson, Terry McDonald, and Lia Yoste (Jesse); four grandchildren, Adriene and Matthew Theron McDonald (Ashley), and Madeline and Connor Yoste; two great-grandchildren, Finley and Sheridan McDonald; and niece, Carol Webb Morse. Hugh was born in Birome, Texas, in 1925 and graduated from Waco High School in 1942. He served in the Army Signal Corps in World War II. He received his Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1958. He was employed by Westinghouse Electric, Pennsylvania, The Defense Research Lab at UT Austin, Ling-Temco-Vought, Arlington, Texas, and E-Systems and Raytheon, Garland, Texas. After retirement, he served on the board of Adroit Systems, Inc. in Washington, D.C. He also had a pecan farm in Wolfe City, Texas, for 40 years. He planted and nurtured 1400 trees, and was still driving a tractor at age 85. Hugh will be remembered by many for his generosity, compassion, and love of family and country. He was a man of incredible intellect and energy. He will be in our hearts forever.
