Ida Mae Rimes-Johnson's Obituary
Ida Mae Ross began her earthly journey on March 2, 1931 in Longview, Texas, to the parentage of John and Jessie Ross, who preceded her in death. She finished her work on earth on October 14, 2014 in Rowlett, Texas. Ida was a woman of many talents. She began her professional journey as a hair technician. She later joined the US Postal Services in Los Angeles, California. After ending her career there, she became a highly recognized Mary Kay Sales Director in Los Angeles, California, in addition to an owner and operator of a full-service diner. Ida Mae Ross married Walter S. Rimes, moved to Los Angeles, California, and to this union, one child was born; both preceded her in death. She later married Leroy J. Johnson, who preceded her in death, to that union no children were born. Ida had several siblings, all preceded her in death. Ida Mae’s memories will be cherished by her closest family, her nieces, Verdia Hicks, Flora Roberts, Gloria Hurd, Cherry Hurd, all of Marshall, Texas, Mrs. Ramona (Timothy Jr.) Giddings, of McKinney, Texas; and nephew, Bobby Hurd of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a host of other relatives and friends. Ida received Christ at an early age, she served in several different capacities at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles with Pastor E. V. Hill as Pastor. Ida later moved to Rowlett, Texas, and became a member of the New Mount Zion Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Dr. R. E. Price, until her death. The visitation for Ida Mae will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. The funeral service for Ida Mae will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 17, 2014 at New Mount Zion Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
