Imogene Bartlett Green's Obituary
Other Information/Special Requests:
Imogene Bartlett Green grew up in Mississippi and Arkansas in a very loving Southern home. She worked hard and put herself through undergrad and grad school at Mississippi State College for Women where she earned her Master's Degree in education.
In Dallas, after graduation, she began her teaching/ counseling career and built a strong group of friends who remained close for over 50+ years. As luck would have it, she would meet the love of her life, Robert Michael "Bob" Green at a Friday the 13th party. Coming from two very different worlds - Bob, a constant practical joking Catholic yankee and Imogene, a more sensitive Southern Baptist young lady - she had her work cut out for her. After dating for 5 years, Bob FINALLY popped the question. Married in August of 1967 they began their true love story by welcoming their first born, Bart, in March of 1969. They completed their family with their second born, Sissy, in April of 1970. Imogene's proudest accomplishment was her family.
Never did she miss any of her childrens' events and often was known to put together costumes/ uniforms and food for these events.
If homework had to be done, she was watching over with a careful eye to ensure it was getting completed. Together, Bob and Imogene had many wonderful vacations from Wisconsin to all over the south and from Alaska to Ireland. The two were seldom ever apart. It wasn't unusual for Bob to say out of the blue ,"Imogene, I don't know what it is, but I fall in love with you a little more every day." Maybe he had to say it often because even well into their marriage he continued to play pranks on her, which made their kids laugh, but drove her crazy. Sadly, their happiness had to be put on pause, when Bob left his beloved Imogene in April of
- Imogene stayed by Bob's side every hour of every day for 2+ years often sleeping on hospital cots as he battled cancer.
Many would be taken down by such a hard loss, but not Imogene. She was Southern strong and had two children (now adults) that she wanted to see how their story was going to turn out. She knew there was more on the horizon and that Bob would wait for her.
In those 20 years, Imogene got to meet their 3 granddaughters who love her madly. Her work was finally done. Her life and dreams were fulfilled and she was ready to be home with the love her of her life. 20 years without her Bob was the best she could give this world and gave she did. She is now happy and at peace with our Savior, her friends, siblings, parents and the love of her life, Bob.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Vivian and Willie Marshall Bartlett and husband, Robert Michael Green; 1 brother, William Marshall Bartlett, Jr.; 3 sisters, Juanita Smith, Sara Alice Etheridge and Mary Lynn Manry
She is survived by her son, Michael Bartlett "Bart" Green (Plano, Tx.); her daughter, Mary Cecilia "Sissy" Green and Son-n-law, Cody Grimes (Frisco, Tx.); grandchildren, Kaitlyn Madorin Grimes, Juliette Grey Grimes and Annabella Rose Green; 9 nieces, 2 nephews; a great niece and nephew, Cole and Grace Beasley
She was a member of First Baptist Church at the fields. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and The Texas Rangers. She will be missed by all who loved her.
