Imogene Hanna Ingram's Obituary
Imogene Hannah Ingram, 101, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, in McKinney, Texas.
Born on December 22, 1923, in Indiana, Imogene lived a full and joyful life marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering love for family and friends. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Ingram Jr., and together they built a life rich with laughter, hospitality, and cherished traditions. Their home was a welcoming place where friends and family often gathered for celebrations, special occasions, and spirited games such as “Spinner Dominoes” or “Monopoly.”
Imogene had a special appreciation for life’s simple joys. She loved watching figure skating and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan who never missed a game. She had a passion for gardening and took pride in showing off her blooming flowers to visitors. As a hostess, she made every visit memorable—often with a fresh-baked cherry pie or her famous Angel Food Cake waiting on the table. She was known for wrapping gifts with elaborate paper and bows, making every holiday and gathering feel magical.
Imogene was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ingram Jr., her daughter, Joni Jean Mitchell, and her sister, Myrella Pearl Elrod. She is survived by her grandson, Colin Mitchell, his wife Jessica Mitchell, and her two beloved great-grandsons, Malcolm and Aiden Mitchell, all of McKinney, Texas. She is also survived by her niece, Denise Cardenas, and Denise’s husband, Juan Cardenas, of Indiana, along with their children, Blake Cardenas and Christina Karavattuveetil.
Imogene’s loving spirit and generous heart will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the joy of knowing her.
A private remembrance will be held by the family.
