Inez Hanson's Obituary
Florence Inez (Vandergriff) Hanson, age 95, passed away on June 13th, 2010. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Arlington on Wednesday, June 16th, at 2:00 P.M. Mrs. Hanson was born April 3rd, 1915, at Posey in Hopkins County, Texas. She grew up on a farm, and at age 19 went to Dallas to attend a school of cosmetology. After graduation, she worked in that profession for a few years until the U.S. became involved in World War II. She then enlisted, and served for three years in the Women’s Army Corps. After being honorably discharged in 1945, she married her longtime sweetheart, Robert L. Hanson, who, himself, had just returned from military service overseas. They remained married for 52 years, until his passing in 1997. They had no children. She enrolled in a business college at the age of 33, earning a business degree two years later. She then began performing secretarial work, and worked for 23 years as a legal secretary at Atlantic Oil Co., until her retirement in 1978. She is survived by one sister, Eva Nell Copeland of Arlington; one niece, Cathy Colley of Gainesville, TX; two nephews, Lloyd Vandergriff of Clovis, CA and Greg Copeland of Massillon, OH; and a handful of great nieces and nephews.
