Ingrid Elfriede Short's Obituary
Ingrid M. Short, beloved wife, mother, and Omi, who left this life peacefully at the age of 81. She was born in Siegen, Germany on April 4, 1944. She is survived by her siblings, Harry Moody of Los Angeles, CA and Josephine Hendrickson of Bastrop, Texas. Ingrid carried strength, grace, and resilience of her roots throughout her life. She moved to the United States as a young woman, studied at the University of Texas at Austin where she met the love of her life, David Short, her husband of 60 years.
Ingrid was devoted to David. Together, they raised a family in Dallas, Texas. She was a loving mother to three children: Michael D Short, Christopher Short, and Melissa Short Baker. She was a proud grandmother to Michael G Short, Garrett Short, Maddy Short, Avery Short, Hayden Baker, and Kendall Baker. Ingrid never missed a swim meet, gymnastics meet, football game, cheer competition, robotics competition, band competition or golf game. Celebrating her children and family is what she loved. Her family was the heart of her world, and she leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, wisdom, and memories that will be treasured forever.
She will be remembered for her large spirit, her deep compassion and the way she made every person feel loved. She enjoyed traveling back to Europe, dining out with friends and family, spending time with her grandchildren and blasting Elvis Presley and the Rolling Stones. Ingrid touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her love will continue to guide us always. Ingrid left this world on Monday, May 19, 2025, surrounded by family and love.
