Ira W. Baker Jr.'s Obituary
BAKER, JR. IRA W. born November 19, 1925 and passed away February 26, 2014 at the age of 88. Bill was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and immediately upon graduation from Adamson High School enlisted in the US Navy, where he served aboard an aircraft carrier during WorId War II. After completion of service, he returned to Dallas, married Mary Ann Pace on December 7, 1945, and began studying business at SMU. Upon graduation, he began his career at KRLD Radio/ TV (which later became KDFW) where he worked for 38 years before retiring with the title of Vice President and General Manager, as well as Vice President of Times Mirror Corp., the parent company of KDFW and several other major market television stations. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to all who knew and loved him. Bill was preceded in death by Mary Ann, his wife of 51 years. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Clint Culp; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Jan Baker; son, Scott Baker; grandchildren, Stacey Peacock and husband, Chris; Jill Ray and husband, Jeff; Chase Culp and wife, Jennifer; Holly Baker; Brock Baker; Cody Baker; great grandchildren, Ashley and Brett Peacock; Kylie and Hayden Ray; and Madison and Emma Culp. Our family will always cherish the time and memories we shared with our “Mimi” and “lh.” Services will be 1:00 PM Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the Restland Abbey Chapel with visitation 1 hour prior to service. Interment will be in Restland Memorial Park.
