SO many memories ... Bro Wayne was THE pastor I remember best growing up at Woodhaven Baptist Church, Garland. I still have (and used) my NASB that was given to me by my 4th grade Sunday School teacher, which is what he preached from. From his 'Donald Duck' voice to the preaching notes and phrases I wrote in my BIble and VBS days at Woodhaven, Bro Wayne Wood made God's word easier for me to understand and inspired me to be more like Jesus. Times changed from my elementary school days to now, and the road hasn't been straight. But it is the notes in my Bible from those days that I hold dear, and that helped me find my way back.
I love that he brought the duck puppet my mom had made for him all those years ago to her funeral. I was also honored to have him officiate my wedding (going on our 28th anniversary this fall). His life lived for HIS Kingdom work, and his passion for the mission field planted a seed for Christ in everyone he met. Thank you. Well done. See you soon.

Brother Wayne is truly a servant of God. He continues to be a big influence in my life. Just this year I will be answering the call to missions in continuing education in Biblical studies and obtaining my ministerial license.

I remember so many conversations I shared with Brother Wayne about the mission trip he had just completed or the one he was about to take. His love for God, and neighbor, and his commitment to missions, both locally and overseas, put him at the forefront of Dallas Baptist Association's mission to help our churches fulfill the Great Commission. As we often say about people like Wayne, "Our loss is Heaven's gain." Rejoice in your Savior Brother Wayne!
