Irma Theresa Maillet's Obituary
Irma Gremillion Maillet was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and life long faithful servant in the Catholic Church. On Friday April 14th, 2023, Irma went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is proceeded in death by her husband Cliff Maillet, both parents, one brother and her eldest son Ronald P. Maillet.
Irma was born July 22nd, 1939 in Bordelonville, LA to Alvin and Celise Gremillion. She was the oldest of 4 children. After graduating high school she went to work in New Orleans where she met Cliff Maillet who was also from Bordelonville, LA . Cliff and Irma met on New Years Eve and married on November 9, 1957. Cliff and Irma enjoyed a happy and successful marriage for 60 years. They were devoted parents to their three sons.
Irma is survived by her brothers Luke Gremillion and Glenn Gremillion, son Donald E. Maillet and wife Sharon, son Clifford J. Maillet II and wife Lisa, grandchildren: Amanda and husband Franz Beele, Christine and husband James Winslow, Josh Maillet, Lydia and husband William Johnson, Ronald (RJ) Maillet and Michelle and husband Bobby Palmos and great-grandchildren: Sierra, Keith, Catherine and Aubrey.
Irma was an gifted designer and seamstress. After the boys were grown and out of the house she started a drapery business in her home. It quickly grew out of the house and has been in business for nearly 40 years. Irma gained a reputation for quality and design of the highest level and was soon doing work in the finest homes in the state. Her attention to detail and fabrication gained her a consultancy with Colonial Williamsburg regarding fabrication of period drapery.
Memorial service will be held at Restland Funeral Home’s Wildwood Chapel at 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. The memorial service will begin at 10:00am. Inurnment service will be held Saturday May 6, 2023 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church 4702 LA-451 Bordelonville, LA 71320. The Catholic Hall next door to the church will be open 9:00 to 11:00am for a family and friends gathering. The service will begin at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, Irma’s family ask that you consider making a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation jdrf.org or 1-800-533-CURE (2873) in honor of Irma’s grandson, Josh Maillet.
