Irma Salinas' Obituary
Irma Salinas of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 7th, 2017 at the age of 89. Irma was born to Juan Romero and Regina Rios in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico on November 18th, 1927. She married Pablo Salinas on July 19th, 1948 and they have five surviving children; Cynthia and husband Glen Dooley, Luis, Sergio and wife Sarah Salinas, Richard and wife Diana Salinas and Carlos Salinas. Irma was a faithful and lifelong churchgoer, and for many years held the position of Treasurer of the United Methodist Women of Emanu-El United Methodist Church near downtown Dallas. She loved the church and was ever diligent in encouraging her family and friends to attend. She was a homemaker in every sense of the word and an excellent cook. Her arroz con pollo, albondigas, milanesa and fried chicken were some of her children’s favorite dishes. She loved her husband Pablo, and together with their children, made frequent trips over the years to their hometowns in South Texas. They enjoyed many a card and board game together. She indulged and encouraged all her children’s interests, especially in education. She was proud of their accomplishments and that all were successful in their respective careers. Irma’s home was always a warm place to come to, whether for family or friends. Holidays were always filled with stories, laughter, and food. One of the favorite Salinas traditions was Mom’s Christmas tamales. She put love in everything she prepared. Irma adored all her grandchildren; Marc Salinas, Leigh Salinas, Sergio Cruz, Esteban Cruz, Clayton Dooley, Alyssa Salinas, Richard Anthony Salinas, Gina Salinas, Matthew Salinas, Nicole Salinas, and her great-grandchildren; Gabriella and Camilla Salinas, Finley and Mila Aucoin, Paloma Levit-Cruz and Cambria Dooley. On her final days, Irma’s main wish was that all her children take care of each other. Her final words were, “I’m ready to go see my Pablo.” Her children were all proud to have her as their Mother and so thankful for the example she set for all of them. May God keep her in His care.
