Irmgard "Irma" (Jensen) Ellis' Obituary
Irmgard “Irma” (Jensen) Ellis, 81, of Grapevine, passed peacefully into the Arms of God on September 11, 2018 after several years of living with the after-effects of a stroke. She was born on April 15, 1937, in New York, NY, to Fred and Agnes Siefken and moved to Dallas in 1974.Irma attended vocational college which prepared her for a successful career as a secretary. Most notably, she was employed by Braniff Airlines and Southwest Airlines. Irma retired from Southwest around 2008, much to her vocal displeasure.Irma married Larry Ellis and enjoyed a pleasant life together. They sailed the season several cruises to destinations such as Alaska and the Caribbean. Larry certainly enjoyed Irma’s kitchen skills as well as her ability to entertain family and friends. Holidays were very important to Irma. She and Larry regularly opened their home to seasonal festivities and celebrations.Irma’s Christian faith was formed in the Lutheran tradition. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Dallas for over forty years.Irma is survived by: her husband, Larry, and her sons Robert Jensen and Richard Jensen. Irma is also survived by a wealth of personal friends as well as colleagues of Braniff and Southwest Airlines.Irma’s family gratefully acknowledges the attentive care rendered by medical and nursing personnel following her stroke. It is with this care Irma was able to continue in her fight.Funeral services for Irmgard M Ellis will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.Funeral arrangements for Irmgard M Ellis have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111In lieu of flowers, contributions in Irma’s memory should be made to the American Heart Association.
