Irvin Bryan Daniel, Jr.
September 26, 1935 – August 29, 2025
Irvin Bryan Daniel, Jr., 89, of Garland, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025.
Born on September 26, 1935, in Corsicana, Texas, to Irvin and Lottie Lorene Daniel, Irvin was raised with strong family values that guided him throughout his life. He graduated from Corsicana High School in 1954 and continued his education at Navarro Junior College from 1954 to 1956. In 1971, he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University.
Irvin enjoyed a long and successful career in accounting, contributing his expertise to several distinguished companies, including Ford Motor Company, Mobil Oil, Vought Helicopter, and Aérospatiale Helicopter Company. After many years of service, he retired with the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
A man of steadfast faith, Irvin was a devoted member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church for more than two decades and, in later years, joined First Baptist Church of Garland. He was also a founding member of South Garland Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon. His love of worship was evident through his many years of participation in the church sanctuary choir.
Beyond his professional and church commitments, Irvin found joy in photography, traveling, camping, collecting model cars, and, most importantly, spending time with his family and friends.
Irvin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. In the summer of 1953, he met the love of his life, Elma, at the United Nations in New York City. Following a four-year, long-distance courtship filled with letters and plane trips between Texas and New York, they were united in marriage on June 29, 1957, in Liverpool, New York. Their marriage was a lasting testimony of love and devotion.
Irvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elma Daniel; his parents, Irvin and Lottie Lorene Daniel; his brother-in-law, Lary Reed; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Walliblich (husband, Andrew) and Betty Denick.
He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Cantrell (husband, Paul) of Waco, and Vickie Sawyers Young (husband, Tom) of Coppell; his grandsons, Andrew Cantrell (wife, Shelby) of Waco, and Luke Sawyers of Forney; and his great-granddaughters, Taryn and Freya of Waco. He is also survived by his sister, Sue Reed of Corsicana, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Irvin will be fondly remembered for his unwavering faith, his devotion to family, and his gentle spirit.
