Isla Mae Hooker's Obituary
Born November 12, 1916, to Walter and Maude Donald in Goodnight, TX, and lived in Claude, TX, for many years before moving to the Dallas area in 1969. She had lived in Garland since 1971. Isla was a teacher for 30 years, and after retiring from teaching, she worked in business for another 35 years. She was very proud that she worked until she was 90 years old. Isla will be remembered and celebrated by family and friends as a shining example of generosity, courage, resiliency and love. Preceeded in death by her husband, Jim Hooker, her parents, two brothers and three sisters, she is survived by daughter, Evelyn Hartman and husband, Mike Hoegee of Garland, grandchildren Dale and Connie Dye of Arlington, TX, David and Deanna Dye of Canyon, TX, Steve and Noemi Dye of Allen, TX, Holly Hartman of Houston, TX, Rob and Kristen Hoegee of Glendale, CA and Chris Hoegee of Vancouver, BC and great-grandchildren Dusty, Cody, Gabriela, Stephanie, Kelsey, Mackenzie and Cory Dye and Andrew, Beatrice and Henry Hoegee, nieces and nephews and loving friends. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Chapter in Claude, TX. Visitation will be held from 5-7PM on Sunday, 6/26 at Restland Funeral Home. Service is at 10AM, Monday 6/27 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Motorcops for Kids (benefiting Shiners’ Children’s Hospitals) 3702 Ardis Dr., Rowlett, TX 75088 or to Alzheimer’s Association/Research, P. O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
