Ismael Ochoa Delgado's Obituary
Ismael Ochoa Delgado, 76, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, on March 29, 2025. He was born on May 28, 1948, in Tahoka, Texas, to Maria Ochoa and Anastacio Delgado. Ismael was the youngest of 10 children, and from the very start he was deeply cherished and loved by his family.
Growing up in Lubbock, he spent his summers in the fields picking corn and cotton to earn money and help his family. Ismael graduated from Lubbock High School in 1968 and continued his studies at Texas Tech University for two years. His story truly began while in high school, at a Christmas school dance, when he met the love of his life, Josie. It was love at first sight for him and knew she was the one. They married on March 8, 1969. Ismael eventually found work in Dallas and moved his family there. Ish and Josie were married 55 wonderful years and built a beautiful life.
Together they raised their three sons: Damian, Nathan, and Israel. He taught them everything he knew, and created endless memories with them, throughout their lives. He was a proud father to his three boys. He supported his children in their active church upbringing. He was extremely involved in their Boy Scouts journey, and supported their activities, including coaching the young men’s basketball team and attending father and son campouts. These moments not only strengthened their bond but provided a foundation for their own values and traditions.
Ish worked for the gas company for over 40 years; first with Lone Star Gas Co. as a meter reader, then retiring as a manager with Atmos Energy. He was a dedicated worker, known for his unwavering commitment and was well respected and admired by his friends and colleagues. After his retirement, he dedicated himself to caring for his wife Josie, spending time with her and continue his love of traveling with her.
Ismael’s love of life was evident by his enjoyment of family vacations and road trips where he reveled in the beauty of nature. He loved taking pictures of his family and documenting all of their adventures. Whether camping, skiing with family or enjoying a round of golf, Ismael embraced every moment with enthusiasm.
He lived a life full of love and laughter and was loved by all who knew him. Ismael will be missed immensely. And although there is a void in our hearts, we find comfort knowing he is reunited with his beloved wife.
Ismael is preceded in death by his loving wife Josephine Delgado, his parents Maria Ochoa Delgado and Anastacio Delgado, his brothers, Domingo, Antonio, Juan, Thomas, Rudy, and Merced, his sisters: Teresa, Juanita, and Ruby. Ismael is survived by his three children: Damian, Nathan and Israel, his grandchildren: Nick, Chris, Sarah, Preston, Ariana, great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends who loved him dearly.
His memory will continue to inspire us and will forever remain in our hearts.
