Ivan Leon Carwell Jr.'s Obituary
CARWELL, JR., IVAN LEON (SKIP) Skip’s honesty, kindness, generosity, profound faith and gentle manner were traits cherished by all who knew him. He was a devoted husband to Francene, father to Matthew, and Papa to Debbie. Skip was a strong believer in the power and sanctity of family. Skip was a life-long Southern Baptist, and member of First Baptist Church of Richardson for 46 years. He enjoyed teaching Sunday School, leading RA’s, singing in the Goldenaires Choir, and the Men’s Chorus. He had a deep heart for missions and the spreading of the Gospel. Skip was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Ivan L. Carwell Sr. and Bertha Victoria Krish Carwell. He was a graduate of Purdue University with a BSEE, and Southern Methodist University with a MSEE. He had a 42 year career as an Electrical Engineer and Project Manager for Texas Instruments and later Ratheon, retiring in 2006. He was a Licensed Professional Engineer with the Texas Board of Professional Engineers. Skip is survived by wife, Francene Carwell; son, Matthew Carwell and wife Kristy Ellmer of Wilmington, Delaware; daughter, Debbie Worley and husband Noah; grandsons, Samuel and Isaiah Worley of Richmond, Texas; his siblings, Judy Cox of Gibsonville, North Carolina, Robert Carwell of Liberty Hill, Texas, and Dr. Mark Carwell of Laconia, New Hampshire. Services will be held at 10:00AM, Monday, May 24, 2010 at First Baptist Church Richardson. Visitation will be from 2:00PM – 4:00PM, Sunday at Restland Funeral Home.
