Ivan Yo-Yuen Yung's Obituary
Ivan Yo-Yuen Yung, 88, passed away September 27, 2020 in Dallas, Texas, with his family by his side. He lived a full life to be celebrated and was a successful businessman, devout Buddhist, and loving husband, father and grandfather (affectionately known as “Agong” to many others besides his grandchildren).
Ivan was born March 29, 1932 to parents Yan-Tze Yung and Po-Kim Cheng in Kwang-Tung, China. He graduated from National Cheng-Kung University, Department of Arts, and became the Chief of the Legal Section in the Civil Aeronautics Administration in Taiwan, Republic of China.
Ivan married Katy Shan-Tze Chang on July 20, 1968, and they had two daughters, Ellen and Patsy. The family immigrated to the United States in 1974 to pursue the American Dream. Indeed, Ivan and Katy were successful entrepreneurs, who founded several thriving businesses, including a few convenience stores, a washateria, a Chinese restaurant, and a dry-cleaning establishment.
Ivan was an avid hobbyist and delighted in continuously learning new skills. Over the course of his life, he enjoyed art, fishing, tennis, golf, Tai-Chi, calligraphy, photography and studying Sutra, among many other interests. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially sharing delicious meals complete with dessert, and was always the life of the party – greeting everyone with a big smile at every gathering.
Ivan is pre-deceased by his wife Katy and is undoubtedly happy to join her in heaven. He is survived by his daughters, Ellen Yung and Patsy Yung Micale, son-in-law Jonathan Micale, and grandchildren Kathryn Yung, MaKenzy Henson, Ryan Micale, and Mary Elizabeth Micale.
Donations to Hope Supply Co. in lieu of flowers may be given in memoriam of Ivan Y. Yung. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 3, 2020, at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
