Ivis Lee Gentry's Obituary
lvis Lee Gentry of Desoto, TX, cast his fishing line into the living waters of Heaven on July 31, 2019. Waiting there on the shores were his wife, Juanita, son Michael, sister Doris Bottoms, nephews Larry and Gary Bottoms, Jerry Pugh, and parents Roscoe and Lima Gentry.Born February 23, 1921, in Waldron, AR, Lee had many adventures during his 98+ years of earthly life. The Lord helped him dodge bullets, literally, as he fought on lwo Jima as a WWII Navy medic. Returning home, the University of Texas agreed to take him on. Next came working here and there, until he settled down and ran his own commercial and industrial real estate business in Dallas, TX, when he was not at his lake cabin catching the big ones.Already missing the twinkle in his eyes and great sense of humor are special friend Doris McGlothlin; sister Melba Pugh; and nieces and nephews Brenda and Tommy Downs; Randy Pugh; Terry and Jennifer Bottoms; and Lacey and Georgi Hristov. We extend a special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Buttgen of Rockwall, TX, for the joy they brought into his life.Lee offered us a couple of bits of wisdom—if you are feeling down, watch the movie Support Your Local Sheriff starring James Garner, and keep the Fisher of Men first in your life.Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm, Sunday, August 4, at Restland Funeral Home, Dallas, TX. Funeral services will be at Restland Abbey Chapel on Monday, August 5, at 3 pm.Funeral arrangements for Mr. Ivis Lee Gentry have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
