J. D. Linsteadt's Obituary
Rev. JD Linsteadt passed from this life to his heavenly reward on March 15, 2019, at the age of 92. JD was born to Emil and Flora Linsteadt in 1926 in Pottsboro, TX.JD enlisted into the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 in 1944. He served as a Seaman First Class during World War II. The injuries he sustained while serving would predicate the direction of his life and result in his testament to the healing power of God.Following his discharge in 1947, JD enrolled into the Pentecostal Bible Institute in Tupelo, MS. He graduated with a Bachelor of Theology, went on to the University of Illinois and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1953, a Master’s of Education from North Texas University in 1961, and was awarded an honorary Doctorate from Cyrus Bible College in 1999.JD was an ordained minister of the United Pentecostal Church International. Through his ministry, JD established 11 churches, mentored dozens of young evangelists and pastors, and touched the lives of countless individuals.To provide for his family and financially support his ministry, JD worked as a clerk for the Southern Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 1989. Upon his retirement, he relocated with his wife to their 65 acres in Commerce, TX. He continued to preach and share his testimony of the many miracles God had performed in his life at every opportunity. JD was a strong, determined man who even into his 60s and 70s was able to work circles around most people. He enjoyed spending endless hours outdoors, and was an avid gardener for many years. He cherished time spent with his family and friends, and was well known as an opportunistic tickler, for his predilection for napkin collecting, and for his legendary hugs.JD is preceded in death by his father and mother, Emil and Flora, and his sister, Dorothy Lifsey. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Emma Jean. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, David (Sherri), Theresa (Cecil Hudson), Brent, and Byron (LaGene), his five grandchildren, Brett Linsteadt, Josey (Mirta) Hudson, Ashley Morales, Kevin, and Eran Linsteadt, and his seven great-grandchildren, Emma Linsteadt, Alessandro and Madison Morales, Dakota, Kassandra, Josey Jr., and Thomas Hudson.Funeral services will be held at North Cities United Pentecostal Church, 502 Belt Line Rd., Garland, TX, at 11:00 A.M. on March 20th.Interment to follow at Restland Cemetary, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX.
