J. Fred White's Obituary
White, James Fred ~ Was born February 6, 1929, at home in a little farm house near Smyrna, Texas. He was the fifth child of John Thomas White and Lucille Fitts White. When Fred was about three his dad decided he’d had enough of scraping by on the farm and the family moved to Kilgore, Texas, where John T. went to work for Magnolia Petroleum Company. When Fred was nine years old his dad was killed in an oil field accident. Lucille and her seven children then moved to Vivian, Louisiana, to be near family and Fred graduated from Vivian High School. Following in his father’s footsteps, Fred went to work for Magnolia Petroleum Company, which became Mobil Oil Corporation and later Exxon Mobil. He worked for Mobil for 42 years. Fred is preceded in death by his father and mother and by brothers John Harold White, Charles Douglas White, Herbert Ray White and Tommy Glen White. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Dottie, daughters Dede Jackson and husband Jerry, Kim Mileger, son John Thomas White (Jack) and wife Jennifer. In addition, he is survived by grandchildren Spencer Jackson, Alex Jackson and wife Courtney, Trent Jackson, Zane Mileger, Avery Mileger, Ellery Mileger, Evan White and Lucy White, sister Dorothy Scripture and brother Ronny and wife Sandra, sisters-in-law Dorrace White and Leona White Behr, many cousins, nieces and nephews and a host of dear, dear friends. On Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 2:00PM a memorial service to celebrate Fred’s life will be held at the Prestoncrest Church of Christ, 6022 Prestoncrest Lane, Dallas, Texas 75230, where he has served as an elder for years. Fred dearly loved little children. Memorial remembrances may be made to Christian Works for Children, 6320 LBJ Freeway, Suite 126, Dallas, Texas 75240 or Made in the Streets,c/o Otter Creek Church of Christ, 409 Franklin Road, Brentwood Tennessee 37027 which serves homeless children in Nairobi, Africa.
