Col Jack Weldon Butler Sr.'s Obituary
BUTLER, COLONEL JACK WELDON Born March 16, 1914 in Chickasha, OK and passed away April 15, 2008 at age 94. Colonel Butler is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Martha Grant Butler; his parents, George J. Butler and Elsie Elliott Butler; his brothers, William E. Butler, Howard Butler; his sisters, Georgia Brader and Alice Duncan; his granddaughter Lucia Butler Smith. Jack is survived by his daughter, Mary Butler-Browne of Crownsville, MD; his sons, Jack W. Butler, Jr. of McKinney, TX and George M. Butler of Ruston, LA; his brother, Daniel Butler of Claremore, OK as well as 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Jack graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1939 with a degree in Industrial Engineering and entered the U.S. Army at Fort Ord, CA in August of 1940. He is a veteran of World War II having served with the combat engineers in Australia and New Guinea. As a civilian he worked for the Corps of Engineers, retiring in 1975. In retirement, Jack was active in the Military Orders of the World Wars, serving in several leadership roles. He is greatly missed by his family and the now few friends that survive him.
