Jack Terence Furlong's Obituary
Jack Terence Furlong 89, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2014. Mr. Furlong moved to Dallas in 1949 from Omaha, Nebraska. He was born in Topeka, Kansas to Stephen and Cecile Furlong on April 27, 1925. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. After moving to Dallas, he was a salesman and businessman. He owned a bar in Dallas for 21 years before retiring. He was a fair and honest man who believed in working hard. A proud Irishman, “Tis Himself”, he believed in living life to the fullest, enjoying many years of literally traveling around the world, meeting and making friends from all over, and making many memories with the people he loved. His family will always remember him as a loving husband and father who was proud of his family and was always there for them. Mr. Furlong is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Pauline; daughter, Debbie Shaklee, and two brothers, Stephen and Michael. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Mary Jeanne Furlong; his daughters, Jacquelyne Floyd and husband, Jerald, Stephanie Moore, Jennifer McBrannon and husband, Kenneth, and son-in-law, Randall Shaklee as well as brothers, Monsignor Thomas Furlong and Jerry Furlong and his wife, Lucy. He is also survived by step children, Linda, Michael, Dee Dee, Connie, Cathy, Andrew, and Chris. Together they have 94 grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for him over the years. The visitation for Jack Furlong will be held on December 18, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Memorial Chapel with a Rosary at 6:30 PM. Services for Jack will be held on December 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, www.lls.org.
