Jack Ray Garrett's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Ray Garrett, devoted husband, loving Father, Uncle, Brother, and friend to many. Jack passed away peacefully at home in Garland, Texas, on January 19, 2026. He was born in Dumas, TX, on October 19, 1958, to parents Arwood Oscar (Shag) Garrett and Alma Faye (Hearnsberger) Garrett.
Jack was a 1977 graduate of Hirschi High School in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was on the golf team in High School and also enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger days. He also enjoyed Billiards and was on a team at one time. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration/Major in Accounting, Minor in Management Science, degree from Midwestern State University in 1983 and Associate of Applied of Computer Programming in 1982, also at Midwestern State University. He worked as a Senior Programmer Analyst and was Manager/Executive Programmer for JP Morgan Chase Bank before his retirement.
Jack never met a stranger and enjoyed talking with people to share stories and offer support.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Shag and Faye, Grandma Nell Hearnsberger, his best friend, David Fast, and Sister-in-law, Patty Garrett. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Linda Garrett, son, Zachary Ryan (Zack) Garrett and Brother, Arwood (Butch) Garrett Jr and his children, Dr. Brandy Garrett Kluthe and husband John and their three children, Garrett, Luke and Kira, Bo Garrett and his wife, Anna, Brother-in-law Walter Stewart and wife Stephanie and their children, Daughter Elizabeth (Libby) Cullum and husband Brandon Cullum and their son, Theodore (Teddy) and Son, Nathan Stewart, along with many extended family members and friends along with our dog, Spencer. He will be missed by all who knew him.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to his family physician of 27 years, Dr. Chris Clark and to the Physical Therapists/Occupational therapists at Baylor Scott & White Institute of Rehab Outpatient (Telecom Parkway). Also, many thanks to the Paratransit Dart services for excellent assistance with transportation over the years as Jack traveled for Stroke therapy services/medical care.
