Jack E. Gissler's Obituary
Jack E. Gissler of Dallas, Texas passed away on January 28,2016. He was born June 17, 1919 in Alton, Illinois to Frank Garrett and Myrtle Volz Gissler. The family moved to Dallas where Jack attended North Dallas High School and then became a proud Texas A&M Aggie, graduating in the class of 1941 as a mechanical engineer. Upon graduation, Jack was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Army’s 339th Engineering Division. He served in North Africa and Italy during World War II and achieved the rank of Major. After the war, Jack returned to Dallas and was hired in 1946 by Lufkin Industries, a Texas based oilfield equipment manufacturer. In 1947 Jack met and married his love, Rosemary Pennell of Denton, Texas. They lived in Wichita Falls, where both children were born. His clients included most of the major oil companies and many independent drillers in the north Texas oil patches. Jack was transferred in 1954 to Edmonton, Alberta Canada where he became manager of Lufkin’s Canadian division. After eight years, the family moved to Dallas in 1962 where he became the Division Sales Manager for Lufkin. He retired in 1982 and continued his favorite activity, golf with his buddies at Brookhaven Country Club. Jack and Rosemary moved from Preston Hollow to The Tradition in 2010 where he enjoyed his final years with his many new friends. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Helen Marie Powell in 1992. He is survived by his wife Rosemary, son Jim and wife Joy, daughter Lindsey and husband Scott Pruett, grandchildren Bryce, Brett and Kelly and Josh. He also has two great grandchildren, Payton and Max. Graveside Service will take place at 2:30 pm on Monday, February 1, 2016 in Restland Memorial Park. Jack was a very proud patriot and animal lover, so donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the military or animal charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
