Jack Richard Grimes' Obituary
Jack Richard Grimes was born in Combine, Texas on November 24, 1924 to Emmitt and Leona Grimes. After high school, he joined the Army and fought in the Philippines during WWII. He met Neva Nell Ward on a blind date shortly after returning to Texas from the war. They married on June 8, 1947, at the Church of Christ in Van Alstyne, Texas. Their dear friends, Faye and Allen Grissom, went with them on their honeymoon to Turner Falls. Jack and Nell were married for sixty-four years. Jack worked for Texas Power and Light and retired after 40 years with the company. Jack loved his church family where he served as a deacon and as “Candy Man”. Many friends and children looked forward each service to his Tootsie Roll treats. Jack loved hunting, sports, his family, and God. He is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Piper and David Autery, Penny and Robert Bellomy; six amazing grandchildren; and four beloved great-grandchildren. “A righteous man will be remembered forever.” Psalms 112:6 Funeral Services for Jack will take place at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Restland Abbey Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
