Jack Hobart Hamilton's Obituary
Jack Hobart Hamilton, born 5-30-1926 in Jasper, Alabama to Sgt. Major Griffin Hamilton and Rachel Hamilton. He died peacefully on January 25, 2011. Jack served in the U. S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from George Washington University in 1949. He joined The Geotechnical Corporation as a design engineer, and successively held positions of chief engineer, vice president of research and engineering and served as a member of the Board of Directors. In 1965, when The Geotechnical Corporation was acquired by Teledyne, Inc., he became president of Teledyne Geotech. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He received great joy in participating in each grandchild’s education. He was known by all who knew him as a giver. Jack and Jane were instruments in the Baylor Heart Hospital which bears their name. Jack Hamilton served on the boards of the Baylor Health Care Foundation; Frontiers of Flight Museum; SMU Dedman College and SMU Institute for the Study of Earth and Man. He was on the advisory council of the Communities Foundation of Texas and the History of Aviation Collection at The University of Texas of Dallas. He is survived by his wife, Jane, of 63 years, his two children Dan Hamilton, wife Gena, Diane Hamilton Buford and husband, Kim, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, at Woodcreek Church, 3400 E. Renner Rd.; Richardson, TX 75082. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be made to Baylor Health Care Foundation and Frontiers of Flight Museum in Jack’s name.
