I was with Jack as his copilot on a 747 trip to London, May 26, 1981 ( my birthday ). The flight attendants new how much Jack liked Ice cream so after the meal, they brought up a silver bowl with much ice cream. When she handed it forward to us, I took it and turned to Jack, and said It is MY birthday. He nearly cried. Hap Palmberg
Dear Capt. Jack it was a pleasure to know you. I will always be grateful to you and your Captain group for getting Braniff back in the air. May you be at rest with your beautiful Jo Willa.
Jack was always a pleasure to fly with because of his good nature and sense of humor. This all happened back in the days of flying the old C46 freighter. On this particular very cold night out of Chicago to Kansas City I needed to use the bathroom back in the tail of the airplane..The bathroom…hmm? Martha Steward would have died. The commode consisted of a five gallon can half filled with water and the appropriate chemicals. This was a long way from the cockpit. I proceeded to wind myself in a very narrow passageway back to the tail. just as I was in the process, Jack started easing the rudder pedals in one direction and then the other. Then it stopped. Just as I was about to continue Jack would continue the rudder treatment. Being in the tail of the airplane I was being slung from one bulkhead to the other. This went on for a short time. After returning to the cockpit , sitting down and strapping in, I glared at Jack but at the same time I could hardly keep from laughing. He just sat there with a gleeful look staring straight ahead. I said, "you just wait, I will get you if and when you ever go back there." As I remember, I don`t think he ever did.. This was Jack Morton, I just loved the guy. Lloyd Jones
