Jack Lewis Rush's Obituary
RUSH, JACK L. On Saturday, December 8, 2007, Jack L. Rush left this world to return to God and to be reunited with his beloved wife, Aileen, who preceded him in death. Jack was born in Lansing, Michigan on March 7, 1917. He lived in Michigan and Illinois until he moved to Texas to enlist in the U.S. Army at the beginning of World War II. He was a survivor of the Normandy Invasion, was awarded the Silver Star, Purple Heart and earned the rank of 2nd Lieutenant before he was wounded and retired from the Army in 1945. He returned to Dallas, Texas and attended SMU Law School for a short time. In 1948 he went into business with his childhood friend, Tom Woolf. They opened the Steak House Unique which he was active in until 1967. He retired at the age of 50 and enjoyed traveling and being with his friends until his demise. He was a courageous soldier and loving husband and father. His wisdom and opinions were recognized and respected by all he knew. He will be sorely missed by his two daughters, Jackie Jeffrey and Renee Gonzalez, by his four grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren as well as his remaining friends. A 10 a.m gravesite service will be on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Restland and will be performed by The Reverend James Cole from Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church.
