Jack C. Venable's Obituary
Venable, Jack was born on June 09, 1914 in Wills Point, Texas and passed away on August 25, 2012 in Dallas, Texas. He is preceded in death by his sister Juanita Venable Boyd. Jack is survived by his wife of 70 years Betty Jo Secrest Venable; daughters, B. G. Grabow and Vicki A. Morgan; son-in-law Harry B. Morgan; grandson Jonathan B. Morgan; and niece Dr. Betty Boyd Heard. Jack was employed by the Texas and Pacific Railroad prior to World War II in which he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army 1941-1946. He returned to the Texas and Pacific Railroad after the war and served as Tax Commissioner throughout mergers with the Missouri Pacific Railroad and later the Union Pacific Railroad until retiring in 1978. He was a member of White Rock Methodist Church where he led the singing in the Mr and Mrs Sunday School Class. He belonged to the Sam R. Hamilton Masonic Lodge and the Hella Shrine Temple. Jack and Betty belonged to the Greater Dallas RV Travel Club and were active in the Guys and Dolls singing group entertaining in nursing homes and senior citizens groups.Jack was an avid sports fan, especially golf, and enjoyed escaping to and working their farm. He was a loving husband and father, and will be forever in our hearts.
