Jack Walton Wallace's Obituary
Born December 22, 1926 in Houston, TX; passed away January 8, 2009. Jack was a long time member of Lake Highlands Baptist Church, singing in the choir, soloing in various departments, and a past athletic director. He retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad after 32 years. Jack served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948, NAS Cobra, spending most of that time in the Mariana Islands. Jack was an avid sportsman, particularly fishing and hunting. In recent years, he has enjoyed time at the Wallace Ranch, near Bryan, TX. Jack is a graduate of Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, TX, attended SMU, receiving a certificate in Transportation and Traffic Management. Past President of Delta Nu Alpha transportation fraternity. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Carey Wallace, and sister, Dollie. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Twila Wallace; two daughters, Pam Nowell and husband Kevin, Janet Avery and husband Randy; son, Jack L. Wallace; grandchildren, Andrea, Jasen, Megan, Jonathan, Justin, James, and Jordyn; as well as his great-grandchild, Quentin. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, January, 11, 2009, at Restland Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, January 12, 2009, at Lake Highlands Baptist Church. Interment will follow with military honors at 2:00 pm at Restland.
