Jackie Jean Way's Obituary
Way, Jackie Campbell 78, went to be with her Lord January 31, 2014 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and cousin. Jackie enjoyed spending her time with family and friends. Her sweet, caring nature endeared her to so many. She was born September 26, 1935 in Richardson, TX to Jack S. Campbell and Mildred (Campbell) Fuller. She was a graduate of Mary Hardin Baylor and Southern Methodist University with a degree in Music Education in 1958. Jackie married Clifford D. Way in 1957. They settled in Richardson, TX. She was very active in the community and her church, First Presbyterian Church of Richardson, where she served as an Elder and member of the choir. Her community activities included: Bluebonnet Club of Richardson, PEO, and Elle’s Belles. Jackie was an accomplished pianist and singer. She taught piano for a number of years and enjoyed performing with the Plano Civic Chorus. A trip to Carnegie Hall to sing was a highlight in her career. She was a co-owner of a T-Shirts Plus franchise in Plano. Jackie was an avid reader, enjoyed quilting and traveling with family and friends. Jackie is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Cliff; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Craig McMenamy of Austin, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Lezlie and Jon Stephens of Frisco, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Leslie Way of Keller, TX; eight grandchildren Scott, Kevin, Kyle, Zach, Kelsey, Jared, Kendall, and Trevor. She was preceded in death by her brother, Mark Campbell. The family wishes to thank Faith Presbyterian Hospice for the loving, care that was provided for Jackie and to Baylor Regional Oncology for their compassionate treatment over the past year. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Restland Funeral Home on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Jackie’s life will be celebrated at First Presbyterian Church of Richardson on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made in her honor to: First Presbyterian Church of Richardson- Music Department at 271 North Walton Street, Richardson, TX 75081.
