Jacqueline Yvonne Crenshaw's Obituary
CRENSHAW, JACQUELINE YVONNE MANSFIELD Jacqueline Y. Mansfield Crenshaw, 94, died after fighting a 13-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She passed away peacefully, to live with her Lord, at Presbyterian Village North on Oct. 22, 2012. Jackie took great pride in her family and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She delighted in the gathering of her family, loved people, and was a wonderful hostess, entertaining friends and family throughout her life. Before her illness, she was an avid bridge player and master gardener. Her bathroom orchid greenhouse was once featured in Better Homes and Gardens magazine. During the 1980s, she owned and operated Shades of Green in Ola Podrida, a flower shop specializing in orchids and bonsai trees. She had a very artistic nature as was illustrated in her china painting, and other beautiful craftwork. Jackie was born in Dallas, Texas to Samuel Joseph Mansfield and Wilmoth Wright Mansfield on Sept. 22, 1918. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1936, attended SMU, and was a graduate of Baylor Nursing School. She met her husband, Dr. Allen Crenshaw, Jr., while still in nursing school, and they married on March 29, 1941. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother, S. J. Mansfield Jr. Survivors include: her brother, Michael Dean Mansfield of Plano; daughter, Karen Groves of Richardson; sons, Allen Crenshaw III and wife Tonda of Carrollton; Jay Riley Crenshaw and wife Marsha of Waxahachie; and Clark Crenshaw and wife Diane of Garland. She had nine grandchildren: Kim Peterson; Andy Crenshaw and wife Christine; Kelly Crenshaw; Courtney Hutson and husband Jimmy; Carolyn Rogers and husband Russ; Aaron Keener and wife Calli; Jason Crenshaw and wife Melinda; Joseph Crenshaw; and Katie Crenshaw. She has 15 great-grandchildren: Lyndsay, Andrew, and Jacob Riley Rogers; Corbin, Brock, Deacon, and Autumn Keener; Austin and Blake Hutson; Victoria and Anderson Crenshaw; Emerson Crenshaw; Riley and Mendel Crenshaw; and Kaiden Penn; and nieces, Mindy Sanchez, Kristin d’Offay, Joanne Mansfield, and nephew, Jody Mansfield. Jackie was a member of the Park Cities Baptist Church for over 60 years, a former member of the Dallas Junior League, the Arboretum, and the Dallas Bromeliad Society. Before starting her family, she was a nurse at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. Visitation will be from 6:30 – 7:30 PM, Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Restland Wildwood Chapel, 13005 Greenville Avenue in Dallas. The family expresses sincere appreciation to the caregivers, nurses, and staff that cared for Jackie with such love and affection during her years in the Alzheimer’s and Special Care Units at Presbyterian Village North, and the Hospice nurses who were with her in her final days. Flowers are welcome, and donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory will be appreciated and may be made to the Alzheimer’s National Office, 225 N.
