Jacqueline Synova DeSalme's Obituary
Jacqueline Synova DeSalme passed away peacefully on October 5, 2014. Jackie was born in Frederick, Maryland, on August 11, 1927 to Nelson Edwin Gallahan and Lillian S. Christianson. She came to Dallas in 1941 and attended Highland Park High School and SMU. Jacqueline grew up a member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church; she and her husband taught the Boand Couples Class for years. She was an elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and spent about 20 years working with many churches in the area as a member of the Committee on Ministry and other committees of Grace Presbytery. Jacqueline was most recently a member of Northridge Presbyterian Church. She worked for Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Baylor University Medical Center, and then for University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and The Aston Center at UTHSC. Jackie loved her pets and plants, her good friends, playing bridge, music, singing in church choirs, and reading mysteries. She loved her Ladies’ Lunch group and watching her Texas Rangers. Jacqueline was “one of those people everyone chose when they needed someone to be a good listener.” She is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her children, Michele (and Fred Toulmin), Roger Allen Jr., and Camille DeSalme; sister, Greta Gallahan Henderson; Greta’s four children, and their children. The visitation for Jacqueline will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Close friends and family are invited to the entombment for Jacqueline in The Chapel Garden Mausoleum at Restland Memorial Park, Friday, October 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM. A memorial service for Jacqueline will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Northridge Presbyterian Church, 6920 Bob-O-Link Drive, Dallas, TX 75214 with Rev. Benjamin Dorr presiding. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Native American charity or an animal shelter of your choice.
