James was an army veteran, retired draftsman from oil and gas plant design, a lover of fine art, family and world affairs. Preceded in death by mother, Virginia Pierce Allen; father, Rex Allen; brothers, William, Robert and Kenneth. Survived by wife, Joan Gore Allen; children, Jonathan A. Allen, Crystal Allen Monson; grandchildren, Annabelle J. Monson and Rex A. Monson. Service will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 12:30 PM in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
