Justice Baker will be sorely missed by all those who knew him. I feel very lucky to have clerked for Justice Baker on the Texas Supreme Court. He was a thoughtful jurist, willing to teach new lawyers about the law. But the best lessons from Justice Baker came from the example he set. Professional, respectful, and always a true gentleman.

James Baker was a great public servant with high moral and ethical standards. We are honored to list him as a friend. We loved it when he came to Dumas to hunt pheasant and have fellowship with the many friends and neighbors of Moore County. We will miss him as a statesman and as a good friend.
