James Joseph Bassi's Obituary
James Joseph Bassi of Dallas, Texas, went to be with his Lord on March 26, 2009. He was born on June 4, 1922, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Stella and Joseph Bassi. James served during WWII with the 86th Division of Patton’s Third Army in Europe and served later in the Pacific. He was also a member of the Army Band, where he played the trumpet and French horn. He was a Dallas Firefighter for 35 years and was honored as Best Driver in 1980. James was a devout Christian and a member of North Dallas Fellowship. He never met a stranger and was always ready to help anyone in need. He enjoyed working in his yard and on his car and loved to fish. James loved his family and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vee Cummons Bassi, his daughter, Carolyn Rees and her husband, Bill Rees. Visitation will be held 3-5 PM Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Restland Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1 PM Monday, March 30, 2009, at Restland Cemetery.
