James William "Bill" Boyd's Obituary
Born August 19, 1922 in Dallas and passed away February 3, 2014 at Doctor’s Hospital following a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles L. and Margaret Ferree Boyd and siblings, Hazel York, Alberta Kissel, Charles Boyd, Eleanor Boyd, Dorothy Boyd, Gladys Boyd, Ernest Boyd, and Ruby Phillips. Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha Rothfus Boyd; children, James Boyd (Mesquite), Jeff & Beth Boyd (Allen) and Robin & Chuck Stilwell (Houston); grandchildren, Spencer Stilwell (Anchorage), Graham Stilwell (Austin), Marty Ebert (Dallas), Allison Ebert & Eric Baxter (McKinney) and great-grandchildren, Julien &Hudson. He is also survived by niece, Betty Jean Boyd (Hawkins) and numerous nieces and nephews in the Boyd and Rothfus families. Bill served in the Navy/Coast Guard during World War II. He played minor league baseball following the war and played Senior Softball well into his 70’s. He enjoyed camping, golf, and coaching his sons’ youth baseball, football, and basketball teams. Bill was a dedicated blood donor to Wadley and Carter Blood Centers. Services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church.
