James Larry Brede's Obituary
James Larry Brede, 81 of Athens, TX, passed away surrounded by family on September 28, 2023, in Dallas, TX. He was born on April 14th, 1942, in Palestine, TX to James C. and Loys P. Brede. He was raised in Garland, TX and attended Garland High School where he shined on the basketball court. Larry went on to have a successful career in sales after starting out as a delivery man for Mrs. Baird’s Bread. He then moved into the oil and gas industry working in sales at Parrott Oil Corporation in Dallas, TX, Valvoline, Penzoil/Quaker State, and later retired from Shell Oil. After retirement, he joined his son at Granite and Tile Outlet where he brought his great work ethic and love for people to help expand and grow into the larger family business it is today. Working alongside his family and work family gave him great joy on a daily basis. Larry was a loving husband to his wife, Linda, of 55 years. He had 3 children and 3 stepchildren and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Larry and Linda shared a lifetime of hobbies that included square dancing, trail riding by horseback and camping to name a few. He cherished his family and deeply loved them and was loved by them beyond measure. He was a devoted father and stepfather, and a doting grandfather who created treasured memories for those he’s left behind. He was regarded by friends and family as the kindest, most caring and gentle soul who had a priceless sense of humor. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his spouse, Linda Brede, his two children, Lariann Hinton and husband Robert, James R. Brede and wife Jackie, and stepchildren, Stacy Collins and Ginger Hardisty. He leaves behind grandchildren who brought great joy and love to his life: Heather and Ashley Fisher, Shelby Hardisty, Sparkie and Christian Collins, Blake and best buddy Drew Hinton, and Skyler Brede. He was blessed with great grandchildren, Logan, Jacobi, Quentin, Austin, Logan, Noah, and Rowan and nephews Larry and Gary Kasper and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Charlotte Kasper, daughter, Tonja Collinsworth, stepson, Russel Hardisty, and granddaughter, Mayson Brede.
Visitation for Mr. James Larry Brede will be Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Restland Funeral Home Chapel. A Service will be Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
