James Lee Brey's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of James (Jim) L. Brey announces his passing on Monday, May 13, 2019, at the age of 89 years. Jim was born on September 29, 1929 to Clarence H. Brey and Ruby A. Blenden in Henry, Oklahoma (no longer exists). He spent most of his childhood growing up in Burbank, Oklahoma where he loved to play basketball and during his high school senior year the basketball team won the state championship. After graduating from Burbank High School he went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Oklahoma. After graduation Jim became a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and continued to service his country in the U.S. Army Corp Reserves.In August 1956 he married Mary Lou Crahan in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where Jim started his 30 year employment career with the Internal Revenue Service. In 1961 they moved to Richardson, Texas where they were members of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. After retirement from the Internal Revenue Service Jim started his business of preparing tax returns and financial planning until he retired for a second time when he was 82 years old.Jim is preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou Brey, his daughter Patricia Sue Moody and his parents Clarence H. Brey and Ruby A. Blenden. He is survived by his son, James C. Brey, and grandson, John L. Moody and sister, MaryAnn Bonham and many nieces and nephews. Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 4:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m., at Restland funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Ave. Dallas, TX 75243.A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday May 20, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostles Catholic Church located at 720 South Floyd Road, Richardson, TX 75080. Also a reception will follow at a private residence.In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to your favorite charity/church or The Dalmatian Rescue of North Texas or The Alzheimer’s Association.
