James E. Brogan Sr's Obituary
Born September 4th 1931, James E. Brogan Sr. passed away on November 21, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Brogan, daughter Linda Tamura, son James E. Brogan Jr., daughter-in-law Lydia Brogan, grandsons Kieth, Drake, and Jordan, granddaughters Shannon and Cricket, grandson-in-law Darryl, great-granddaughters Alexis and Alyssa, and great-grandson Riley. Jim graduated from Jesuit High School in 1949, after which he attended St. Edwards University and the University of Houston. While at the University of Houston he met the woman who would become his wife. After having dated for only six weeks, they married on March 10, 1953. This union lasted for over sixty-one years. Jim served in the Navy during the Korean conflict and then tried his hand at several different occupations before going to work with his father in 1956 at the Frank J. Brogan Co. In 1967, with his father’s blessing, he took control of the company, building it into one of the most successful automotive aftermarket representative agencies in the industry. In 1981 he made the decision to go to work as a regional sales manager for Fel-Pro Inc., creating what was called Fel-Pro Southwest. It was indicative of his leadership ability that more than ninety-five percent of the employees of the Frank J. Brogan Co. followed him into this endeavor. He retired from Fel-Pro in 1997. In the years since then he has enjoyed the company of his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids along with numerous golf-buddies, friends and of course his closest companion and soul-mate Barb. There will be a wake to commemorate and celebrate his life on December 13 at his grandson’s Kieth’s house. In lieu of flowers, please make a donations to the Garland Animal Shelter.
