James Wei-Hsuan Chao's Obituary
On Friday, March 22, 2019, James Wei-Hsuan Chao, loving husband and father of three children, passed away at age 90.James was born on October 7, 1928 in Jiling Province, China to Shou Chang and Wang Chao. He fled China in 1940s and eventually ended up in Taiwan, where he received a bachelor degree from a university in Taiwan and began working as an English-Chinese interpreter. He later worked in finance in Taiwan. On November 12, 1965, he married Carolyn Chin-Fang Chung Chao. They raised one son, Jason, and two daughters, Jenny and Nina.James was a man of faith. Leaving home and family at a young age during war time had him experience God’s grace. He was always optimistic when hardship came his way and was always the calm presence anchoring his family together. He loved his family fiercely. His children and grandchildren were his biggest pride and joy. He loved to read and study the words of God. And he enjoyed volunteering at the Chinese Senior Center teaching English to new Chinese immigrants. He was a provider to his family and a loving father to his children.James was preceded in death by his father, Shou Chang, his mother, Wang, and his wife, Carolyn. He is survived by his son, Jason, daughter-in-law Eliza, daughter Jenny, son-in-law, Ray, daughter Nina, and three grandchildren, Nehemiah, Asher, and Grace.A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Restland Funeral Home & Memorial Park’s Memorial Chapel in Dallas, Texas at two-thirty p.m. Flowers and donations may be sent to Restland Funeral Home, Dallas Texas.
