James "Jimmy" Chesley Lockett's Obituary
James “Jimmy” Chesley Lockett was born on his family farm just outside of Linden, Texas. He was raised and lived his early life in Shiloh, Texas and graduated from Jefferson High School. In 1933 he moved to Dallas, Texas to work in the government program CCC; he later relocated to South Carolina to work in a textile factory until his mother raised the money to send him to Burns School of Business in Dallas where he trained to be a florist. Jimmy joined the United States Navy in 1942 to be a “marine”. He was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Pharmacist Mate 2nd Class and received the Victory Medal WW2 and the Good Conduct Ribbon. Jimmy then returned to Dallas and purchased the Garland Flower Shop where he had a long successful career until his retirement. Jimmy was a Master Mason and member of the Garland Masonic Lodge #441 for over 50 years. He lived a full and rich life of 100 years and touched many hearts. Jimmy is survived by wife, Bettye Louise Lockett; sons, Robert Munn Spencer and wife, Joanne, and Ronald Myers and wife, Rhonda; daughters, Kathleen Tucker and husband, Randal, and Julia Hunt; brother, Louis Cleveland Lockett; grandchildren, Christopher Lee Spencer, Barry James Spencer, Teresa Ann Spencer, Brett Alan Tucker, Stacey Michelle Woodard, Bryan Lain Tucker, Misty Renee Savage, Johnathan Henry Ford, Nathaniel Porter Myers, Natalie Paige McMahon; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jimmy is preceded in death by parents, Cleveland Grover Lockett and Elizabeth Pauline Lockett; former wife, Mary Lucile Magee Spencer Lockett; sisters, Beatrice Lockett and Sybil Arrowood, and brother, Hollis Lockett. Pallbearers: Chris Spencer, Nathan Spencer, Brett Tucker, Bryan Tucker, Nathan Myers, and Jordan Tucker. The visitation for Jimmy will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. The funeral service for Jimmy will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2015 in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
