James Henry Clarke's Obituary
CLARKE, JAMES HENRY, age 89, died December 26, 2011 in Dallas. Henry Clarke was born in Louisville, Kentucky on March 18, 1922. A 1940 graduate of Louisville Male High School, Mr. Clarke attended the University of Virginia before serving in the southwest Pacific with the advanced echelon of the 5th Air Force during World War II. After the war, he returned to Louisville and married Annie Louise Badham. They had 7 children and in 1959, moved to Dallas. He was preceded by his first wife Annie Badham Clarke (1943-1971), and by his second wife Harriett Campbell Clarke (1974-2001). He is survived by his brother, William Underwood Clarke and his wife Virginia of Prospect, KY; by his seven children and their spouses, Percy Clarke Gwinn and her husband Michael of Pinehurst, NC; Dr. James H. Clarke, Jr. and his wife JoAnn and John U. Clarke and his wife Betty, each of Houston; Baxter B. Clarke and his wife Linda, David C. Clarke and his wife Cindy, LuLu Clarke Stavinoha and her husband Kim, William Terry Clarke and his wife Teresa, each of Dallas, and Florra Ann Clarke; and by their eighteen children and spouses: William and Trish Gwinn, James and Erin Clarke, Meredith Clarke Ortega and husband Michael, Lindsay Clarke, Robert and Zann Clarke, John Clarke, Walker and Leigh Clarke, Elizabeth Clarke Hermes and her husband Charles, Buddy and Beth Clarke, Charles V. Clarke, Katie Clarke, Janie Clarke, Clarke and Amanda Stavinoha, Hudson Stavinoha, Peter Stavinoha, Tricia Clarke, Charles W. Clarke and Scott Clarke, and step-granddaughter Gina Tippe Lynn and her husband Derek. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and by Mrs. Harriett Clarke’s three daughters and their children: Dr. Ann Campbell and her partner Dr. Stephanie Seremetis and their children Nicholas and Sophia, Sarah Campbell and Ellen Campbell and her husband Rick and their children Spencer and Samuel. He also leaves behind his faithful canine companion, Bogie. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 30th at 2:00pm at the Church of the Incarnation, 3966 McKinney Ave., Dallas, Texas. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Henry’s name to Mad for Plaid at Highland Park Independent School District or to the charity of your choice.
