James Myron Crabtree's Obituary
James Myron Crabtree, age 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Dallas, Texas on June 12, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years and 11 months, Suzanne; his children, Curtis Houston Crabtree and wife Diane of Dallas, Texas, and Suzannah Leigh Elsherbini of Carrollton, Texas; and his sister, Mary Elizabeth Canaday of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. He was beloved as Poppy by his grandchildren Lauren and Catherine Crabtree, Austin and Logan Elsherbini.
Jim was born in 1937 on his grandparents Alabama farm, son of Hilda Yarbrough Crabtree and Medford Columbus Crabtree. In 1955, he graduated from Altus High School in Altus, Oklahoma, and went on to graduate from the University of Oklahoma's School of Journalism. At OU, he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Jim was the Public Relations Manager for the Dallas Chamber of Commerce and later joined Merrill Lynch, where he retired as the Vice President after 37 years. While in Dallas, Jim was a Mason and a Rotarian. He also served our country as an Information Officer in the Army's 95th Division.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, Texas on Wednesday, June 18th at 2:00pm, with a short procession to graveside service following at 3 PM at Restland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Cancer Support Community of North Texas.
