James Webb Elliott Randall Jr's Obituary
Dallas, Texas, passed away on November 08, 2011. A third generation Dallasite, he was born on March 25, 1925 in Dallas, Texas to James W. E. Randall and Katherine Starnes Randall, who predecease him. He was also predeceased by his brother Thomas R. Randall. He attended Highland Park High School, Southern Methodist University where he pledged Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and the Rice Institute (University). He was a member of the Idlewild Club and Highland Park United Methodist Church. With his father and family friend Robert Perry, he was a partner in Randall-Perry advertising for over 30 years. During his tenure the company served many high profile clients including Harry & David, the Dallas Morning News, Downtown Lincoln Mercury, Modern Olds, Preston Chrysler Plymoth, E.M. Kahn Co. and perhaps most notably Ed Maher Ford Co. (receiving an award for 50 years with Ford). It is only appropriate that Dad passed during Veteran’s Day Week. He served from 1943-1946 in the United States Navy, Aviation Radioman Second Class USNR on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt CVB-42. Randall was pre-deceased by his former wife, Melinda McBride, with whom he shared 7 children, all of whom survive him, James W.E. Randall III (Elizabeth), Mary Katherine Randall Fields (Mark) Phoenix AZ, Clifford Michael Randall (Candace), Ralph McBride Randall, Walter Lawrence Randall (Arlisha), Melinda Randall Kurzner (Chris) and Charles Cameron Randall. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 3 great grand children. Dad loved gardening, architecture and photography. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Dallas Center of rehabilitation and Baylor Health Care Systems who gave us 19 more months with Dad in addition to the special care provided by Vitas Hospice Care. A private service will be held on November 12, 2011. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to the Dallas Center of Rehabilitation, 4200 Live Oak Street Dallas, Texas 75204 Attn: Mr. Brett Ottley, or the American Lung Association 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.
