James David Fitzpatrick's Obituary
James David Fitzpatrick, 75, passed away in his home on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 in Richardson, TX. Dave is survived by his wife Carolyn Ann Fitzpatrick, children, Robert Brian Fitzpatrick of Butler, MO, Sharon Kay Fitzpatrick of Butler, MO, Daniel Ray Luther of Forney, TX, Jamie Ann Smith of McKinney, TX; his 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He was born on October 29th 1940 in Kansas City, MO. to Willis and Wanda Fitzpatrick. He attended Northeast High School and joined the Armed Forces in November of 1957. While in the United States Army, he served as a mechanic in Company B of the 24th Infantry, 34th Armor Division in Germany. He was a rifle sharpshooter and qualified as an expert in firing the sub-machine gun in Munch, Germany. He was later promoted to the position of Tanker and served with the 1st Howitzer Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment at Ft. Hood, Texas. He received the Good Conduct Medal, was elevated to the rank of Sergeant (E-5), and received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1960. In 1960, he married and had two children Robert Brian and Sharon Kay. In 1972 he re-married to Carolyn Ann Luther and together they raised Daniel Ray and Jamie Ann. Dave became a member of AA in 1974 and achieved 41 years of sobriety. During this time he started an AA chapter in Independence, Missouri to assist and support others in their journey. In 1980, Dave relocated his family to Dallas, Texas and founded Texas Temps of Dallas, a successful business that has been serving the Dallas area for over 36 years. Dave’s favorite pastimes included golfing, playing the organ, and riding his motorcycle. He will be remembered most as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 10:00 AM in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. A military funeral service will follow at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211, at 12:30 PM.
