James George Frank's Obituary
James George Frank was born on June 13, 1931, in Bay City, Michigan, to George and Helen Frank. On February 13, 2026, he passed away peacefully at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and quiet strength. He lived 34,579 days on this earth.
Jim’s story began on a beautiful family farm in Central Michigan, where he grew up alongside his brother, Richard. The farm shaped the man he would become. Long days spent tending gardens, caring for animals, and working the land instilled in him a deep appreciation for hard work, nature, and responsibility. Those early roots never left him. As an adult, he poured that same care into his own yard and trees, taking immense pride in keeping everything neat, healthy, and flourishing.
In 1951, during the Korean War, Jim answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. He chose the Medical Branch and trained as a Dental Technician, a practical decision that reflected his steady, dependable nature.
In 1953, while stationed in Kingsville, Texas, far from his Michigan home, he met the love of his life....
While attending classes at Texas A&I, he met a beautiful brown-eyed young woman named Evangeline “Vangie” Rios. They fell in love and were married On April 9, 1954 beginning a partnership that would endure for more than six decades. Together, they built a life grounded in unwavering devotion to one another.
After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Jim and Vangie briefly lived in Memphis, Tennessee…soon they chose to move back to Texas & first settled in Dallas and later in Irving, where their daughter, Dena Jenise, was born in August 1958. Not long after, they purchased their first home in burgeoning suburb of Garland, Texas on Sanders Street, where their son, David James, was born in October 1961. Those busy years were filled with the simple joys of raising a young family and building a future together.
Jim began his career with Texas Instruments in the 1960’s as a Research Technician and later advanced into engineering, contributing to important defense department projects. He was respected for his diligence, intelligence, and steady work ethic. Providing for his family was a responsibility he carried with quiet pride.
In 1971, the family moved to their forever home on Gloucester. There, Jim and Vangie planted more than just trees — they planted https://memories.Their beautiful yard became a reflection of Jim’s patience and dedication, especially the beloved paper shell pecan trees that produced generous harvests year after year. Neighbors could often see him outdoors, mowing, tending, and gathering pecans with care. Their home was their sanctuary, and together they truly lived the American dream.
Retirement from Texas Instruments in 1991 brought sweet and well-earned time together.
In September 1997, their only granddaughter, Bridget Olivia, was born, He and Vangie delighted in spending countless hours with her — enjoying dinners at Spaghetti Warehouse, sharing laughter, playing games, and cherishing every moment.
In 2020, during the COVID pandemic, Jim lost his beloved Vangie — his best friend & his constant companion After many years in the home they built together, he moved to Brookdale Senior Living in May 2022, where he remained until his passing.
Jim was a man of deep faith and a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church... He loved God, his Country, and most of all, his family. His life was not loud or boastful, but steady and meaningful.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Dena Frank; his faithful son, David Frank, David’s wife Pam Frank, & his cherished granddaughter, Bridget Frank.
His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the memories planted like the trees he so faithfully tended.
