James Edward Franks Sr. -June 28, 1930James Edward Franks, Sr., 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2019, in Mesquite, Texas. He was born on Saturday, June 28, 1930, to his loving and thoughtful parents, Harria Oscar and Delia Mae Monds(Franks) in Ponder, Texas. James Edward Franks, Sr. will be sincerely missed by his loving family, his devoted friends and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved him.Jim was born in Ponder, Texas, a community northwest of Denton in Ellis County. Jim was the third of five boys. His youngest brother, Doyle Franks still lives in Krum, the town where the boys grew up and graduated high school. After his high-school graduation, Jim joined the Navy V6 Reserve and served until April of 1953. One of Jim’s friends from the Navy introduced him to Margaret Porter (on a blind date!) and they married July 9, 1949 in Rockwall, TX. Jim and Margaret lived several places around Dallas before setting in Mesquite, Texas. Jim was a printer by trade, but enjoyed photography as his hobby. He worked in several printing shops and then opened his own business, Standard Printing and Advertising. He ran the company out of their home with Margaret’s help until he sold the company and retired.Jim loved to take pictures. Our family has a tremendous amount of photos and memories from every gathering and we treasure them dearly. Jim and Margaret were married for 68 years and had 3 children.After Jim and Margaret married, Jim became a Christian and Christ became the center of his life. He leaves behind a great heritage and legacy for his family.He was preceded in death by his parents Harria and Delia Franks, brothers Howard Franks, Charles Franks, Harria Oscar Franks, Jr., son James E. Franks, Jr., daughter-in-law Donna R. Franks, son-in-law Monroe Blankinship and wife of 68 years Margaret L. Franks.He is survived by daughters Terri Blankinship, Susan Morris and son-in-law Lynn Morris, grandson Jeffrey Franks and wife Stacy Franks, granddaughter Katelyn Morris, brother Doyle Franks and his wife Ruby Franks, numerous extended family and friends.Visitation for James Edward Franks, Sr., will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 1:30 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 2:30 PM in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243.
