James Leroy Golden's Obituary
James Leroy Golden was born on March 29th 1945 in Denver Colorado, the youngest boy of Edna and Wendall Golden. After losing his father at a young age, young Jim joined the Army, which remainded until he died, an important part of his life. It was in the Army that he met Lucia Correia, who he would marry on November 28th, 1970 in a small ceremony. Two years later they welcomed their first child, Christopher Michael Golden, on May 4th 1972. The Goldens moved around for several years with the army until finally settling down in Dallas, Texas in the late seventies. Several years later, their second child, a little girl Loriann Maria Golden, was born on October 30th, 1981. It was a short 18 months after their daughter was born that James lost his son to Cystic Fibrosis, which led him to lead many fundraising to hopefully find a cure.
He loved his family and would give anything for them, though he sometimes struggled to show it. He sacrificed time and energy to ensure his children had the best education. Money was no obstacle when it came to realizing his daughter's dream wedding to her wife, Gwen Sutton, though he struggled sometimes to accept it, he loved his daughter regardless, and his daughter-in-law. The day he became a grandfather, he cried, having been so afraid that his exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam had doomed him to never getting to play the part of doting grandfather. But on May 22nd, 2007, his dream came true as his first and only grandchild, Christopher Howard Sutton was born.
It was in February 4th, 2019, that his happy marriage came to an end, it was on that dark night that his beloved wife left him. He had a promise to keep though, to see his grandson graduate high school. A promise, sadly, that would not come true.
After a brief but rapid decline due to dementia and failing kidneys, James Leroy Golden finally rejoined his wife and son on December 29, 2021. He passed quietly, and peacefully in his sleep. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy, and son Christopher, his parents Wendell and Edna, brothers Bud, William, Harley, Everett and sisters Shirly and Peggy. He is survived by daughter Loriann and her wife Gwen, grandson Christopher, sisters Linda and Gwen, and many nieces and nephews.
